OSHKOSH, Wis. – Jake Rhode and
Derek Dotlich combined for 59 points to lead the Elmhurst men's basketball team to a 97-92 road win over defending national-champion and No. 2 ranked University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
Elmhurst remained unbeaten on the season, upping its record to 3-0 with the victory. Dotlich connected on a three-pointer just 27 seconds into the contest and the Bluejays never looked back, leading from wire-to-wire and never trailing in the contest.

Leading 10-5 just over three minutes into the game, the Bluejays ripped off a 12-0 run over the next three minutes, extending their lead to 17 in the process. Dotlich keyed the run, scoring 10 points and knocking down three 3-pointers in the stretch. UW-Oskosh cut the Bluejays' lead down to eight points on multiple occasions, but Elmhurst carried a 43-33 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Titans sliced the deficit down to five points at 45-40 early in the second half, but a 9-0 Elmhurst run brought the Bluejays' lead back to 14 points. The Titans responded after a timeout, using a 16-5 run over the next 2:30 to pull to within three points. Elmhurst pushed its lead back up to 10 points with just under six minutes remaining and the Bluejays held a nine-point cushion (86-77) with under three minutes left, but Oshkosh battled back one last time, slicing the Bluejays' lead down to three with 52 seconds remaining.
The Bluejays missed a free throw, but Oshkosh was called for a charge, giving Elmhurst the ball back with 40 seconds left. The Bluejays hit four free throws sandwiched around a UW-Oshkosh layup to give the Bluejays a 92-87 lead with 24 seconds left. Adam Fravert hit a three-pointer with 18 seconds left to pull the Titans to within two, but the Bluejays hit 3-of-4 free throws in the closing seconds to preserve the victory.

Elmhurst shot 55.0 percent (33-of-60) from the floor, including 43.5 percent (10-of-23) from beyond the arc. The Bluejays were solid from the free throw line as well, hitting 21-of-25 attempts (84.0 percent).

Rhode finished with a game-high 33 points, including 25 in the second half. He shot 11-of-17 from the floor, including 4-of-7 from downtown. Dotlich scored 18 of his 26 points in the first half. He shot 7-of-16 from the field, including 4-of-8 from beyond the arc. He added five rebounds in the win.
Lavon Thomas and
Jay Militello also reached double figures in scoring. Thomas totaled 14 points, hitting 6-of-11 shots while Militello connected on 4-of-5 shots to score 10 points while also collecting a team-best eight rebounds.
Nick Perry added six points for the Bluejays.
Oshkosh finished the game shooting 42.3 percent (30-of-71) from the field, including 31.6 percent (12-of-38). The Titans shot just 66.7 percent (20-of-30) from the foul line.

Will Mahoney came off the bench to spark the Titans in the loss, finishing with a team-best 25 points. Mahoney shot 9-of-14 from the floor, including 5-of-10 from downtown. Fravert added 17 points and eight rebounds while Jack Flynn totaled 16 points and seven boards. Eric Peterson added 11 points for the Titans.
