WAUKESHA, Wis. – Three players reached double figures in scoring to help lead the Elmhurst women's basketball team to a 77-70 road win over Carroll University.

Elmhurst upped its record to 7-8 overall and pulled even at 3-3 in the CCIW. Carroll slid to 7-8 overall and 2-4 in league play with the loss.

Elmhurst jumped out to a 21-17 lead after the opening quarter, but Carroll outscored the Bluejays 20-13 in the next 10 minutes to carry a 37-34 lead into halftime.

The Pioneers led for the first seven minutes of the third quarter before three-pointers from Marisssa Urso and
Kelly Weyhrich moved in Elmhurst in front by five with just under two minutes left in the quarter. The Bluejays carried a three-point cushion (55-52) into the fourth quarter. The Bluejays never trailed for the duration of the contest, pulling away from the Pioneers with a 9-2 run at the midway point of the fourth quarter. The run turned a three-point Elmhurst lead into a 10-point cushion with just three minutes remaining, effectively putting the game out of reach.

Elmhurst shot 45.6 percent (26-of-57) from the field, including 50.0 percent (10-of-20) from three-point distance. Urso came off the bench to lead Elmhurst with 15 points, shooting 5-of-8 from the field, including 4-of-6 from beyond the arc. Weyhrich added 13 points while hitting 5-of-8 shots, including 3-of-5 from downtown.
Courtney O'Donnell added 10 points for the Bluejays while
Lauren Goff totaled nine.

Becca Gerke added six points apiece for the Bluejays.

Carroll hit 49.1 percent of its shots, shooting 26-of-53 from the floor. The Pioneers struggled from the outside, hitting just 4-of-15 attempts (26.7 percent) from three-point range. Kayla Stefka and Katie Rossetti combined to score 43 points to pace Carroll. Stefka finished with a game-high 22 points, shooting 9-of-11 in the contest. Rossetti hit 8-of-12 attempts to score 21. Sierra Grubor added 11 points for Carroll.

Elmhurst will look for its third straight CCIW victory when the Bluejays travel to Wheaton College on Saturday, January 12.
