NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Elmhurst wrestling team fell to 1-1 in CCIW dual meets after suffering a 27-9 loss at #12 North Central College.

Elmhurst (4-3 overall) took home wins in three weight classes while North Central picked up seven victories.

North Central jumped out to a 4-0 lead after Moe Mitchell scored a 22-8 major decision over Elmhurst's Justin Hame at 125 pounds. Zach McCullough put Elmhurst on the board at 133 pounds by edging Jaime Suarez 4-3. North Central's Marc Fleenor defeated the Bluejays' Jimmy McAuliffe 5-3 at 141 pounds while Anthony Rink followed with a technicall fall victory over the Bluejays' Joe Rongaus at 149 pounds. Keone Derain defeated North Central's Rafael Roman 6-2 at 157 pounds to trim the Cardinals' lead down to 12-6. 

Danny Harris scored three points for North Central at 165 pounds with a 6-2 win over Howie Olson. Elmhurst's Nevin Brittain toppled Cam Hayes 11-5 at 174 pounds to make ths score 15-9 in favor of the Cardinals. North Central won the final three matches to pull away for the 18-point win. Cody Baldridge edged Elmhurst's Mark Miller 3-2 in a tiebreaker at 184 pounds. Tyler Vittal followed with an 11-4 win over Elmhurst's Dominic Gallo at 197 pounds. At 285 pounds, the Cardinals' Audel Ochoa pinned Elmhurst's Zach Dixon in the first period.  

Elmhurst hosts the Al Hanke Invitational on Saturday, January 12.
