HOLLAND, Mich. - The Elmhurst women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the 2018 season, falling 4-0 at Hope College.
Elmhurst slipped to 5-1-1 on the season while Hope remained unbeaten at 6-0-2.
After a scoreless first half, Hope exploded in teh second, scoring four times, including three in the first eight minutes to pull away for the win.
Rachel Braginton scored 1:07 into the second half off an assist from Hilary Curry. Lindsay Kooy followed less than 90 seconds later with a goal from Kristen Marsman. Curry's unassisted goal in the 53rd minute gave the Flying Dutch a three-goal cushion.
Braginton added her second goal of the game in the 76th minute to make the final score 4-0.
Hope outshot Elmhurst 22-2 in the contest, including 14-0 in the second half.
Sophia Tuligolowski took the loss in goal for Elmhurst despite recording 10 saves. Jordanne Ellingboe picked up the shutout in goal for Hope with a pair of saves.
Elmhurst begins CCIW play on Saturday, September 22, by traveling to Wheaton College.
