ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Elmhurst women's lacrosse team's 2018 season came to a close with a 16-9 road loss at Augustana College.

Elmhurst finished the season with a 5-10 overall record and an 0-6 mark in CCIW play.

Elmhurst hung with the Vikings for the first 31 minutes of action before Augustana (8-7, 2-4 CCIW) took control and pulled away in the second half.

After an Augustana goal two minutes into the contest, the Bluejays scored three straight to take a 3-1 lead.
Isabel Walker's 40th goal of the season tied the game at 1-1. Goals from Larissa Arvanties and
Daniela Valerio put the Bluejays in front 3-1. Augustana pulled even with two straight goals, but
Ellen Brown's goal with 18 minutes left in the first half gave Elmhurst a 4-3 lead. Augustana scored three straight goals, including two from free position to take a 6-4 lead, but Walker netted her second goal of the game just before halftime to cut Augustana's lead down to 6-5 at the break.

Grace Knoebel's 53rd goal of the season less than a minute into the second half pulled Elmhurst even at 6-6. The Vikings took control of the contest with seven straight goals, including four consecutive from Christina McCabe to open up a 13-6 lead. Back-to-back goals from Brown pulled Elmhurst to within five with nine minutes remaining, but Augustana outscored the Bluejays' 3-1 down the stretch to pull away for the seven-goal victory.

Brown led Elmhurst's offense with four goals in the loss. Walker added three points on two goals and an assist. Knoebel tallied a goal along with four ground balls and four draw controls.
Megan Keener recorded 14 saves in goal for the Bluejays.

McCabe paced Augustana with eight points, totaling five goals and three assists. Bailey Aasen added six points with five goals and an assist. Annalia Fowler recorded 15 saves in goal for the Vikings.
