ELMHURST, Ill. – The Elmhurst softball team upped its winning streak to eight after sweeping a doubleheader from Kalamazoo College. The Bluejays won the opening game 5-0 and took game two 7-6.

Elmhurst upped its record to 14-16 overall while Kalamazoo fell to 8-20 on the season.

ELMHURST 5, KALAMAZOO 0 (Game One) – Elmhurst broke a scoreless tie with five runs in the sixth inning to take the opening contest 5-0.

Alyssa Ressinger started the scoring by singling in a pair of runs.
Tara Cannella followed with an RBI double and Stephanie Sturinio capped the scoring with a two-run double.

Cannella and Sturino finished with two hits apiece to lead Elmhurst at the plate.
Â
Bailee Krantz tossed a complete game shutout to earn the victory. Krantz worked seven innings and allowed just three hits and two walks while striking out three.
ELMHURST 7, KALAMAZOO 6 (Game Two) – Elmhurst finished the doubleheader sweep with a 7-6 victory in game two.
Kalamazoo grabbed a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning, but Elmhurst quickly evened the score on a two-run single from Ressinger in the bottom of the frame. The Bluejays went in front 3-2 on
Val Perrelli's RBI single in the second, but Kalamazoo tied the game with a run in the top of the third.

Elmhurst took a three-run lead in the third after cashing in on an RBI single from
Mia Riese and a pair of Kalamazoo errors. The Hornets scored two in the fourth and one in the fifth to pull even at 6-6 but
Jenna Geraci's RBI single in the bottom of the fifth proved to be the game-winning run for the Bluejays.

Perrelli led Elmhurst's offense with three hits while Ressinger and Sturino collected two hits apiece.

Stefania Passarelli picked up the win in relief, working one inning and allowing one hit and one run. Geraci picked up the save by tossing two scoreless innings in relief.

Elmhurst travels to the University of Chicago on Tuesday, April 24.
