DEERFIELD, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's tennis team closed out its spring schedule with a 7-2 loss to Lake Forest College at College Park West.
Lake Forest (18-2) swept the three doubles matches to open play. Julie Lord and Leeza Bodnar toppled Elmhurst's
Rachel Rettger and
Kathryn Wheeler 8-1 at No. 1. Allison Watts and Tyranny Miller stopped
Ysabel Gonzaga and
Chiara Gaudio 8-5 at No. 2 doubles while Emma Wang and Grace Gould defeated Elmhurst's
Meg Simon and
Dacey Maglaque 8-3 at No. 3.
In singles play, Lake Forest took four of the six matches. Elmhurst scored wins at No. 3 and No. 4 singles. Rettger downed Bodnar 7-5, 6-3 at No. 3 singles while Wheeler earned a win at No. 4 singles after Wang injury defaulted with the score even at 3-3 in the first set.
Lord toppled Gaudio 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1 while Watts handed Gonzaga a 6-2, 6-2 loss at No. 2. Gould stopped Maglaque 6-3, 6-0 at No. 5 while Miller toppled Lopez 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.
Elmhurst closed out the season with a 5-11 record.
