WINTER HAVEN, Fla - The Elmhurst baseball team wrapped up its spring break road trip to Florida with a 6-0 loss to Western New England University.
Elmhurst slipped to 9-4 overall after wrapping up its seven-game trip to Florida with a 5-2 record.
Western New England (7-3) plated three runs in the bottom of the second to take an early lead. The Golden Bears added runs in the fifth, seventh and eighth innings to pull away for the win.
Elmhurst finished with eight hits in the contest but struggled with clutch hitting. The Bluejays finished 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position and also grounded into three double plays.
Reagan McReynolds and
Colin Winston totaled two hits apiece for the Bluejays in the loss.
Kevin Johnson, Jared Rosenblatt and Joe Cassella drove in two runs apiece for Western New England.
Nathan Tovell made the start and took the loss for Elmhurst. Tovell went three innings, surrendering five hits and three earned runs.
Elmhurst kicks off CCIW play on Wednesday, March 28, by hosting North Park University.
