CLERMONT, Fla. – The Elmhurst softball team upped its record 5-5 on the season after defeating Oberlin College and Hamilton College at the PFX Games in Florida.

Elmhurst toppled Oberlin 13-1 in its opening contest before rallying to defeat Hamilton 7-5 in extra innings.
ELMHURST 3, OBERLIN 1 – Elmhurst totaled 13 hits and
Emily Despain tossed a complete game in the Bluejays' 3-1 victory over Oberlin College.
The win by Elmhurst snapped a four-game skid.

Oberlin grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the top of the third after cashing in on an Elmhurst error. The Bluejays pulled even in the fourth on
Erin Steik's run-scoring single.

Alyssa Ressinger doubled home what proved to be the winning run in the bottom of the fifth, and
Rebekah Ondracek singled home an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth.

Veronica Zahn, Mia Riese, Ondracek and Despain all recorded two hits apiece in the victory.

Despain improved to 3-2 with the victory. She pitched a complete game, scattering six hits while allowing just one unearned run. She did not issue a walk and struck out five in the win.

ELMHURST 7, HAMILTON 5 - Â Elmhurst rallied from a four-run deficit to defeat Hamilton 7-5 in eight innings.

Hamilton jumped out to an early 4-0 lead after scoring twice in the first and adding two runs in the third. Elmhurst cut the lead in half in the top of the fourth on an RBI ground out from Steik and a run-scoring single from Zahn.

Still trailing by two entering the top of the sixth, the Bluejays surged in front with three runs. The Bluejays loaded the bases with one out. After a fielders choice retired the lead runner at the plate for the second out, Ondracek delivered with a bases-clearing double to drive in three runs, putting Elmhurst in front 5-4 in the process.

Hamilton answered back with a run in the bottom of the sixth to pull even at 5-5. Hamilton threatened in the bottom of the seventh, loading the bases with two outs, but a ground out ended the scoring threat and sent the game to extra innings.

Ondracek delivered again in the eighth inning. With two on and one out, Ondracek singled up the middle to put Elmhurst in front 7-5, propelling the Bluejays to a two-run victory.

Ondracek led Elmhurst in the win, finishing 3-for-5 with five RBIs. Zahn added two hits and scored two runs for the Bluejays.

Stefania Passarelli picked up the win in relief, working the final two innings and allowing just two hits. She walked one while striking out one.
Bailee Krantz made the start and took a no-decision, allowing seven hits and four earned runs in six innings of work. She walked two and fanned one.

Elmhurst wraps up its Florida trip with games against Allegheny and Washington & Jefferson tomorrow (March 22). Â
