Harden Sets Goal Record as Bluejays Cruise Past Olivet

ELMHURST, Ill. – Mac Harden became the all-time leader in goals scored as the Elmhurst men's lacrosse team coasted to a 24-1 victory over Olivet College at Langhorst Field.
 
Elmhurst upped its record to 5-1 on the year with the victory while Olivet remained winless, sliding to 0-5.
 
Elmhurst tallied nine goals in the first and nine goals in the second while racing out to an 18-0 halftime lead. The Bluejays scored the first 21 goals of the game before Olivet scored early in the fourth quarter. Elmhurst tacked on three more goals in the final quarter to cruise to the 23-goal victory.
 
Elmhurst dominated the game from start to finish, outshooting Olivet 54-16 and recording a 67-25 edge in ground balls.
 
Harden entered the game two goals shy of Matt Westhaver's career record of 100 goals. He picked up his 99th goal seven minutes into the contest and then scored back-to-back goals at the end of the first quarter, surpassing Westhaver's record and becoming the Bluejays' all-time goals leader in the process. Harden finished with six points on four goals and two assists.Harden, who already owns Elmhurst's career records for points and assists, now stands at 102 career goals. 

Andrew Frerich led Elmhurst's offense with seven points, pumping in five goals and dishing out two assists in the victory. Marcus Yandall and Luke Richardson both tallied hat tricks with three goals apiece. Yandall added an assist to finish with four points. Jake Heil and Eric Langston totaled two goals apiece while Trent Nyberg, Andrew Lentz, Jake Cambron, Mike Foytlin and Eric Shaw all found the back of the net in the Bluejays victory. Lentz tallied three assists to finish with four points. Ty Funderburk added four assists in the victory. Carter Meyer won 20-of-24 faceoffs and picked up a team-leading 13 ground balls.
 
Jacob Delgado notched his third win of the season in goal, recording nine saves while allowing just one goal.
 
Cameron Bazin accounted for Olivet's lone goal. Jake Steele took the loss in the cage for the Comets, recording 12 saves in the contest.
 
Elmhurst plays at Whittier College on Thursday, March 22.
