ELMHURST, Ill. – 
Grace Knoebel scored six goals, including the game-winner with just two minutes remaining, to help the Elmhurst College women's lacrosse team rally past Beloit 11-10 in the Bluejays' season-opener.
 
Elmhurst (1-0) played from behind for much of the contest as Beloit led for the majority of the action.
The Bluejays led 2-1 seven minutes into the contest after back-to-back goals from Knoebel and Isabel Walker, but Beloit used consecutive goals from Kieran Rodning and Morgan Nicholson to open up a 3-2 lead with 11:37 left in the opening half. Knoebel scored her second goal of the contest from free position with 9:23 remaining to pull Elmhurst even at 3-3. After the two teams traded goals, Fiona Milchman's goal with 3:30 left on the clock gave Beloit a 5-4 lead at the half.
 
The Buccaneers struck for two goals early in the second half to extend their lead to 7-4. Elmhurst answered back with a pair of Knoebel goals just 1:13 apart. Rodning's second goal of the game with 15 minutes left to play gave Beloit a two-goal lead at 10-8. Kalie Miller's second goal of the game with 9:45 remaining brought Elmhurst back to within a goal, but Beloit scored less than a minute later to push its lead back to two with 8:52 remaining. Miller responded with her third goal of the contest just 28 seconds later to make the score 9-8. Tate Mitchell's fourth goal of the contest with 7:20 remaining gave the Buccaneers a 10-8 lead.
 
Elmhurst scored three times in the final seven minutes to rally for the win. Knoebel found the back of the net from free position with 6:46 left and Walker followed with a free position goal with 4:52 remaining to knot the score at 10-10. Knoebel scored from free position with just over two minutes remaining to give Elmhurst its first lead of the contest in over 40 minutes.
An Elmhurst turnover in the final minute gave Beloit one last chance, but 
Megan Keener recorded a save and ran out the clock to preserve the one-goal victory for the Bluejays.
 
Knoebel powered Elmhurst's offense, ripping six goals in the victory. Beloit outshot Elmhurst 32-25 and held a 23-21 edge in ground balls. The six goals is the second-highest single-game total in Elmhurst history. Miller finished with a hat trick in her collegiate debut, scoring three times for Elmhurst. Walker finished with four points, totaling two goals and two assists in the win.
 
Keener earned the win in goal, recording 14 saves and allowing just seven goals in over 40 minutes of action. Maggie Durkin played nearly 19 minutes in net, allowing three goals while recording two saves.
 
Mitchell paced Beloit in the loss, finishing with four goals. Rodning and Morgan Nicholson added two goals apiece for the Buccaneers. Alex Aarakellan took the loss in goal, allowing 11 goals while recording eight saves.
 
Elmhurst travels to Olivet College on Saturday, March 3.
