CHAPMAN, Calif. – The Elmhurst women's basketball team could not overcome a poor first quarter, falling 64-54 to Chapman University.

Elmhurst (2-2) was outscored 17-2 in the game's first 10 minutes, falling behind by 15 points. The Bluejays hit just one field goal in the opening quarter, shooting 1-of-10 from the floor.
The Bluejays cut into Chapman's lead in the second quarter, outscoring the home team 22-15 to trail by eight (32-24) at halftime.

The Panthers pulled away in the third, outscoring Elmhurst 24-13 to open up a 19-point cushion after 30 minutes. Chapman (3-0) led by as many as 22 points early in the fourth quarter, before Elmhurst finished the game on a 17-5 run over the final seven minutes to make the final score 64-54.

The Bluejays shot 34.6 percent (18-of-52) from the floor, including 28.6 percent (6-of-21) from three-point distance. Chapman finished the game shooting 49.0 percent (25-of-51) from the floor, including 62.5 percent (5-of-8) from downtown. The Panthers won the battle on the glass, outrebounding Elmhurst 35-26.

Mia Riese led Elmhurst in the loss, coming off the bench to score a team-high 10 points while shooting 5-of-6 from the floor.
Lisa Logan,
Kelly Weyhrich and
Sophia Lathe totaled eight points apiece for the Bluejays. Logan added four assists and a team-high five rebounds while Weyhrich dished out a team-best six assists.
Kellee Clay finished with six points for the Bluejays.

Lucy Criswell paced Chpman with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Jaryn Fajardo flirted with a triple-double, totaling 15 points and team-best eight rebounds and nine assists. Camryn Hamaguchi also reached double figures in scoring with 10.

Elmhurst concludes its two-game road-trip to California with a stop at the University of Redlands on Saturday, November 24.
