ELMHURST, Ill. – The Elmhurst women's soccer team slipped to 4-3 in the CCIW after suffering a 4-0 loss to Augustana College at Langhorst Field.

Augustana (11-2-3, 4-1-2 CCIW) struck for a goal in the opening half in the 16th minute to take an early lead. Karissa Gottardo head home a goal off a feed from Jordyn Sundberg to stake the Vikings to the one-goal lead.

The Vikings tacked on three goals in the second half. Anna Fank headed home a goal off of Abby Wendell's corner kick in the 54th minute. Andria Serra made it 3-0 for the Vikings in the 63rd minute. Wendell sent a corner kick into the box where Fank headed the ball and Serra volleyed the ball out of the air and into the net.

Fank added the final goal of the night, converting a penalty kick in the final minute to make the final score 4-0.

Augustana outshot Elmhurst by just one shot at 17-16, but the Vikings put 12 shots on goal while the Bluejays totaled just six on goal.

Sydney Ion earned the shutout in goal for Augustana by recording six saves.
Sophia Tuliglowski allowed three goals while recording five saves in 70 minutes.
Bryce Marchetti played the final 20 minutes in goal for Elmhurst, allowing one goal while recording three saves.

Elmhurst (9-4-1) plays at Kalamazoo College on October 23.
