ELMHURST, Ill. – The Elmhurst volleyball team evened its CCIW record at 2-2 after scoring a 25-20, 25-18, 25-16 win over North Central College.
Elmhurst (9-9 overall) broke open a 9-9 tie in the first set with a 4-0 run. North Central (2-13, 0-2 CCIW) pulled to within a point at 13-12, but the Bluejays opened up a 5-1 run to extend their lead to five. North Central came no closer than four points as the Bluejays put the set away at 25-20.

Elmhurst scored the first points of the second set and never trailed, leading wire-to-wire. The Bluejays opened up a 12-5 lead and did not allow the Cardinals to come closer than three points en route to the 25-18 victory.

The Bluejays led wire-to-wire again in the third set, scoring the first points and never looking back. The Bluejays opened up a 10-6 lead and extended its lead to nine points at 22-13 before putting the set and the match away.

Elmhurst hit .225 for the match with 38 kills and 15 errors in 102 attempts.
Taylor Zurliene led a balanced Elmhurst attack, finishing with eight kills and six digs.
Kayla Mast added seven kills while
Bailey Brouwer and
Kaye Lesure tallied six kills apiece.
Payton Froats totaled five kills and a team-best three blocks while
Kelly Townsend totaled a double-double with a team-leading 16 assists to go along with 10 digs.
Valerie Thomas led the squad in digs with 11 while also adding eight assists.

Kaitlyn Boelter-Eberhardt led the Cardinals in the loss with 14 kills and six digs. Katelynn Kuehl finished with 15 digs for the Cardinals.
