WAUKESHA, Wis. – The Elmhurst men's basketball team struggled in a 90-60 road loss at Carroll University.

Elmhurst slid to 11-9 overall and 4-7 in the CCIW after dropping their third straight contest. Carroll improved to 7-12 overall and a 3-7 league record.

The Bluejays struggled with their shooting, finishing the contest hitting less than 40 percent (21-of-53 for 39.6 percent) for just the third time this season. Elmhurst also turned the ball over 18 times leading to 24 points for Carroll.

Elmhurst build an early four-point cushion at 11-7 after a three-pointer from
Ryan Patton, but Carroll quickly surged in front opening up a 32-27 lead with six minutes remaining. The Pioneers then closed the half with a 21-5 run to open up a 53-32 lead at the half. Carroll shot a whopping 72.4 percent (21-of-29) from the floor in the opening half, including 64.3 percent (9-of-14) from three-point distance.

Leading by 23 points with 12 minutes remaining the Pioneers pulled away down the stretch, leading by as many as 40 points before coasting to the 30-point victory.

Elmhurst shot 46.2 percent (12-of-26) in the opening half while hitting just 33.3 percent (9-of-27) in the second half.
Jake Rhode led Elmhurst with 11 points and three assists in the loss while Patton totaled nine points.
Justin Fox added eight points while
Jeremy Ireland and
Brad Hubly scored seven points apiece.

Carroll finished the contest shooting 67.4 percent (31-of-46) from the floor including 52.6 percent (10-of-19) from beyond the arc. Nick Penny paced Carroll in the win with 16 points, including four three-pointers. Tanner Zaeske added 13 points while Tyler Ingebrightsen scored 12. Troy Howat also reached double figures in scoring, finishing with 10. Joel Heesch added nine points for the Pioneers.
