NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Elmhurst women's basketball team won its third consecutive contest by scoring a 61-41 road victory over North Central College.

Elmhurst ran its record to 11-8 overall and 7-3 in the CCIW with the victory while North Central slid to 4-15 overall and 2-8 in league play.

The Bluejays gave up the opening basket of the game, but scored the next eight straight points to open up an 8-2 lead. Elmhurst would never trail for the remainder of the game. The Cardinals cut the deficit down to four points with 5:14 remaining, but the Bluejays closed the quarter on a 13-4 run to carry a 13-point lead (21-8) into the second. North Central pulled to within eight points twice in the second quarter, but the Bluejays extended their lead back to 13 and led 31-18 at the half.

Elmhurst blew the game open in the third, outscoring the Cardinals 18-4 over the first eight minutes to open up a commanding 27-point lead. Trailing by 23 entering the fourth quarter, North Central made one last run at the start of the fourth. The Cardinals used a 13-2 run to cut Elmhurst's lead down to 12 points with 4:25 remaining, but Elmhurst closed the game with a 9-1 run to pull away for the 20-point win.
Elmhurst shot just 37.3 percent (22-of-59) from the field, including 32.0 percent (8-of-25) from downtown. The Bluejays outrebounded the Cardinals 47-37 in the victory. Three Bluejays reached double figures in scoring in the victory.
Mikaela Eppard totaled 20 points and 11 rebounds while also dishing out four assists to pace Elmhurst.
Jasmin Bailey and
Kaela Jones added 11 points apiece for Elmhurst. Jones finished with six rebounds and six assists for the Bluejays while
Lisa Logan totaled seven points and six rebounds.

North Central struggled all game with its shooting, finishing the contest hitting just 26.7 percent (16-of-60) from the floor. The Cardinals shot just 17.9 percent (5-of-28) from three-point distance. Mayson Whipple led the Cardinals with 17 points while Michaela Reedy and Lyndsay Brennan scored six points apiece.
