ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst wrestling team slipped to 4-6 on the season in dual meet competition after dropping a 35-10 decision to North Central College.
Elmhurst won the first two contests wrestled before North Central won the final seven.
The Bluejays faced an early 6-0 hole after forfeiting the 125 pound weight class.
Anthony Munoz dismantled North Central's Marc Fleenor 20-9 at 133 pounds to put the Bluejays on the scoreboard.
Jimmy McAuliffe followed by pinning the Cardinals' Anthony Rink in 3:47 to put Elmhurst in front 10-6.
North Central won the next seven matches to close out the dual with the 25-point win. Rafel Roman pinned
John Prieto in the third period at 149 pounds while Egan Berta followed with a 15-3 major decision over
Austin Maher at 157 pounds. Cam Hayes pinned
Gunnar Hjorth 27 seconds into the second period of the 165 pound match to put North Central in front 22-10.
The Cardinals won the next three matches by a combined three points. Matt Marcotte tipped
Nevin Brittain 5-4 at 174 pounds. Josh Bouie edged
Mark Miller 6-5 at 184 pounds and Tyler Vittal scored a 3-2 win over the Bluejays'
Leo Ortiz at 197 pounds. North Central's Emonte Logan closed out the dual with a 16-4 major decision over Karim Fuentes at 285 pounds.
Elmhurst hosts the Al Hanke Invitational on Saturday, January 13.
