OBERLIN, Ohio - The Elmhurst women's tennis team competed over the weekend at the ITA Regional hosted by Oberlin College.
Three Bluejays competed in the Oberlin Open in singles play.
Chiara Gaudio dropped her first round match 6-3, 6-2 to St. Mary's Monica Davy.
Ysabel Gonzaga suffered a 6-3, 6-4 loss to Otterbein's Sophia Navas-Davis while
Kathryn Wheeler fell 6-1, 6-0 to Ohio Northern's Sabine Worthoff.
Gaudio bounced back from the opening round loss to defeat St. Mary's Megan Davy 6-3, 6-1. Wheeler dropped her second match, falling 6-2, 6-1 to Calvin's Lark Foote while Gozaga fell 7-5, 6-7, 10-4 to Albion's Lauren Solano.
In doubles play, the Bluejays' duo of Gozaga and
Rachel Rettger scored an 8-6 opening round win over Denison's Morgan Arroyo and Natalie Overby before falling 8-3 to Washington's Sanjina Tripathy and Lisa Chionis in the second round. The Bluejays' tandem of
Kathryn Wheeler and Chiara Gaudio fell 8-3 to Hope's Natalie Rahrig and Bailey Chorney. Wheeler and Gaudio fell 8-3 to IIT's Morgan Colbert and Weronika Halicka in the backdraw.
Elmhurst travels to North Park University on Wednesday, September 27.
