JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's soccer team upped its record to 5-1 on the season by hammering MacMurray College 8-0.
Elmhurst scored just one goal in the opening half on a
Kennedy Irmen strike just 6:18 into the match.Â
Leading 1-0 at the half, the Bluejays exploded in the second half, scoring seven times in the second 45 minutes.Â
Irmen netted her second goal of the game in the 50th minute to extend Elmhurst's lead to 2-0. Less than a minute later,
Genevieve Kapecki scored to make the score 3-0.Â
Jami Lessila,
Bri Gerardi,
Kristin Kelly, Hayler Parr and
Sharon Lopez all scored for the Bluejays over the final 35 minutes to help Elmhurst pull away for the 8-0 win.Â
Sophia Tuliglowski earned the win in net by stopping the only shot she faced.
Elmhurst outshot MacMurray 41-1 in the contest.
Irmen totaled two goals while Parr finished with four points on two goals and two assists. Lessila finished with a goal and an assist while
Kim Stanczak and
Marri Gragnani added two assists apiece.Â
Elmhurst travels to Augustana College on Wednesday, September 27.Â
