Bluejays Score Early & Often in Win Over Principia

ELMHURST, Ill. – The Elmhurst women's soccer team cruised to a 7-0 win over Principia College to improve to 2-0 on the season.
 
The Bluejays scored early and often, building a 3-0 lead at the half before pulling away in the second for a seven-goal win.
 
Sidney O'Keefe started the scoring in the seventh minute, collecting a ball that Jami Lessila slipped through a pair of defenders and scoring on a one-on-one chance.
 
Less than three minutes later, Kennedy Irmen headed home a Kim Stanczak corner kick to put the Bluejays in front 2-0. O'Keefe collected her second goal of the game in the 19th minute scoring off passes from Stanczak and Madison Howe.

Stanczak netted her second goal of the season in the 51st minute after scoring off a long pass from Lessila. Two minutes later, Brittany Reinhart made it 5-0 with a goal off an assist from Howe.
 
Kristin Kelly scored from a McKinley Grieve assist in the 73rd minute to make the score 5-0. Heather Hoffman found the top shelf for her first collegiate goal in the 87th minute after scoring on a Maddy Rowedder assist.
 
Elmhurst outshot Principia 29-5 in the contest and held a 9-1 edge in corner kicks.

Sophia Tuliglowski and Katie Nibbi combined for the shutout in goal for Elmhurst. Tuliglowski totaled two saves in 71 minutes while Nibbi stopped the only shot she face while the game's final 19 minutes.
 
Elmhurst hosts Webster University next Sunday, September 10.
