ELMHURST, Ill. – The Elmhurst volleyball team slid to 3-6 on the season after dropping pair of matches at the Elmhurst College Invitational.
Elmhurst opened with a three-set loss to Aurora University before taking fifth-ranked Colorado College to five sets before falling.
AURORA 3, ELMHURST 0 – Aurora handed Elmhurst its fourth straight loss with a 25-9, 25-17, 25-15 defeat of the Bluejays.
Elmhurst hit .000 for the contest, finishing with 21 kills and 21 errors.
Hannah Davis led the Bluejays in the loss with seven kills.
Bailey Brouwer and
Alli Rogers added four kills apiece.
Katie Davis led the squad in assists with 16 while
Amy Schryver totaled a team-best 10 digs.
Katie Vondra paced Aurora with 17 kills while Emily Lines added 38 assists for the Spartans.
COLORADO COLLEGE 3, ELMHURST 2 – Elmhurst battled with fifth-ranked Colorado College before succumbing 25-19, 20-25, 17-25, 25-18, 8-15 to the Tigers.
Elmhurst raced out to a quick one set lead after taking the first set 25-19, but Colorado pulled ahead by taking the second and third sets at 25-20 and 25-17, respectively. The Bluejays refused to go away, taking the fourth set 25-17, but Colorado used a 10-2 run early in the fifth set to pull away from the Bluejays and seal the set 15-8.
Elmhurst hit .123 for the contest with 49 kills and 29 digs in 162 swings. Three Bluejays reached double figures in kills.
Alli Rogers led the way with 14 kills while
Mel Lundin and
Hannah Davis added 10 kills apiece.
Allie Skowron totaled seven kills and a match-high eight blocks in the loss.
Amy Schryver tallied a team-best 27 digs while
Stacie Harms recorded 13.
Kelly Townsend registered a career-high in assists with 28 while
Taylor Nirchi finished with 10.
Jordan Mullen led Colorado with 12 kills while Haley Harris tallied 11 kills and 16 digs. Lizzy Counts registered 40 assists while Anna Gurolnick tallied 21 digs.
Elmhurst host Hope College tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.
