Emma Krick scored twice to lead the Elmhurst women's soccer team to a 2-1 win over Benedictine University.

Elmhurst (3-1) controlled the pace of the game for much of the contest before holding off a final surge from Benedictine (0-6).

Elmhurst controlled the opening half, outshooting Benedictine 13-1 and keeping the ball on the Eagles' half of the field for the majority of the first 45 minutes. The Bluejays scored twice in the first half on set pieces.

The Bluejays jumped on the scoreboard just 11 minutes into the contest.
Brittany Reinhart blasted a free kick from the far right side to the top of the box and
Emma Krick headed the ball into the back of the net to give Elmhurst a quick 1-0 lead. Less than three minutes later, Krick struck again, heading home a
Kim Stanczak corner kick to extend Elmhurst's lead to two.

Benedictine cut the Bluejays' lead in half with just 6:34 left on the clock. Elmhurst was whistled for a foul just outside the top of the box. Holly Ward blasted home the free kick from the top. The Eagles kept the pressure on in the final minutes, but Megan Anderson's shot was saved by Elmhurst keeper
Bryce Marchetti to preserve the 2-1 for the Bluejays.

Elmhurst outshot the Eagles 25-5 in the contest and enjoyed a 7-0 edge in corner kicks.

Marchetti picked up the win in goal for the Bluejays with one save. Eagles' keeper Cassidy Hensen recorded 11 saves in the loss.

Elmhurst travels to Lake Forest College next Tuesday, September 19.
