DECATUR, Ill. – The Elmhurst softball team slipped to 1-3 in CCIW play after dropping both ends of a doubleheader in extra innings at Millikin University.

Millikin took game one 3-2 in eight innings before completing the doubleheader sweep with a 7-4 win in eight innings. Elmhurst slipped to 9-11 overall while Millikin moved to 18-8 overall and 4-0 in league play.

MILLIKIN 3, ELMHURST 2 (Game One) – Millikin used a walk-off single from Jordan Themer to score a 3-2 win in eight innings.

Millikin led 1-0 entering the fourth before Elmhurst grabbed a one-run lead with two runs in the fourth. RBI doubles from
Rebekah Ondracek and
Mikayla Melone sparked the Bluejays in the inning.

An RBI from Chelsea Eads in the bottom of the sixth tied the game for Millikin at 2-2. Â Elmhurst came up empty in the top of the eighth, setting the stage for Millikin to earn the 3-2 walk off victory.

Val Perrelli collected two hits to lead Elmhurst at the plate.
Stefanie Sanidas took the loss from the circle despite pitching a complete game. Sanidas allowed nine hits and three runs over 7.2 innings of work. She walked one while fanning five.

MILLIKIN 7, ELMHURST 4 (Game Two) – Elmhurst erased a four-run deficit to send the game to extra innings, but Millikin scored four times in the top of the eighth en route to the doubleheader sweep.

Millikin scored two in the first and added two in the third to race out to an early four-run cushion. Elmhurst answered back with four runs in the bottom of the fifth to pull even at 4-4. An
Erin Steik RBI single started the scoring and
Bri Getzloff added a two-run triple to pull Elmhurst to within a run. An RBI double from
Val Perrelli brought Elmhurst even at 4-4.

The Big Blue broke through in the top of the eighth. With two outs and runners at second and third, Marissa Padilla delivered an RBI single. Alyssa Voegle followed with a two-run single to make the final score 7-4 in favor of the Big Blue.

Getzloff and Perrelli collected two hits apiece to pace the Bluejays at the plate.
Emily Despain took the loss from the circle, throwing 7.2 innings and surrendering 12 hits and seven runs. She walked three and fanned two.

Elmhurst hosts Augustana College on April 5.
