ELMHURST, Ill. – The Elmhurst women's lacrosse team dropped its CCIW home opener to North Central 19-1.

Both teams played solid defense early in the first half. The Cardinals (8-4, 1-0 CCIW) found their offense later in the half, scoring three goals in a three-minute span to take a 7-1 lead into halftime.
Grace Knoebel netted Elmhurst's only goal, weaving through defenders before burying a shot in the top left corner.

Emily Zadny (five goals, three assists) paced the North Central offense, while Jessica Deetjen added four goals. Three other players totaled four points apiece. Kat Schultz made four saves in earning the win.

Megan Keener led the Bluejays in ground balls with four and also made 15 saves, while taking the loss in goal.
Annette Stidham forced a team-high four turnovers.
