CLERMONT, Fla. - The Elmhurst softball team moved to 5-5 on the season after splitting games with Washington & Jefferson College and St. Olaf College on its spring break trip to Florida.
Elmhurst opened the day with a 5-4 walk-off win over Washington & Jefferson in eight innings, before falling 10-1 to St. Olaf in the nightcap.
ELMHURST 5, WASHINGTON & JEFFERSON 4 - Elmhurst recorded its fifth win of the season with a walk-off win in extra innings. 
A Sydney Routsi two-run single in the second helped spark a three-run outburst and give the Bluejays an early 3-0 lead. Washington & Jefferson got a run back in the third and tied the game in the fifth with a pair of runs. Headed to extra innings, the Presidents took a 4-3 lead on an Abby Cunningham single. 
A sacrifice fly from 
Stefanie Sanidas tied the game in the bottom of the eighth, a double from 
Lauren Rismondo and a walk-off single from 
Bri Getzloff gave Elmhurst the one-run victory.
Rismond and Ruotsi led Elmhurst in the win with two hits apiece. 
Sanidas picked up the win in relief, working one inning and allowing just one hit. 
ST. OLAF 10, ELMHURST 1 - St. Olaf (11-5) batted around against Elmhurst in the first inning, sending 10 batters to the plate and scoring five runs to take control of the contest. 
Elmhurst managed a run on a 
Riley Schweig RBI single in the top of the second, but St. Olaf took the run back on an Emily Carr homer in the bottom of the second. St. Olaf added two runs in the third and two more in the fourth to earn the 10-1 win in five innings. 
Sanidas took the loss for Elmhurst, working 2.2 innings and allowing seven hits and six earned runs. She walked four and struck out three. Julie Graff picked up the win for St. Olaf, tossing five innings and allowing just three hits and one run. Graff walked two while striking out nine. 
Elmhurst closes out its spring break trip with games against Colby and Buffalo State.
