NAPERVILLE, Ill. - A poor shooting night led to the Elmhurst men's basketball team suffering an 84-60 loss at North Central College.

Elmhurst slipped to 6-17 overall and 2-12 in the CCIW with the loss. 

The Bluejays shot just 35.0 percent (21-of-6) from the floor in the loss while North Central (14-9, 8-6 CCIW) controlled the paint. The Cardinals outscored Elmhurst 30-18 in the lane while owning a 47-32 rebounding advantage. 

North Central led 25-22 with seven minutes left in the opening half and closed the half on a 19-9 run to build a 44-31 lead at the half. 

The Cardinals built a 19-point cushion six minutes into the second half and then put the game away by outscoring Elmhurst 20-8 over the next seven minutes to open up a commanding 31-point lead.

Three players reached double figures in scoring to lead Elmhurst in the loss. Caleb Mowry came off the bench to score 13. Derek Dotlich added 11 points while Ryan Patton scored 10. Nathan Rogers finished with nine points. Rogers and Austin Brown pulled down seven rebounds apiece in the loss.

The Cardinals' starting five scored 82 of the team's 84 points. Alex Sorenson led the way for North Central with 26 points and nine rebounds while Erwin Henry totaled 18 points and nine boards. Jagger Anderson finished with 16 points and nine assists while Aiden Chang totaled 15 points. 

Elmhurst hosts Millikin University on Wednesday, February 15.
