Kennedy Irmen headed home a corner kick with just two seconds left in regulation to lead the Elmhurst women's soccer team past Carthage 2-1.
With the score tied at 1-1 and time ticking away,
Kim Stanczak sent a corner kick into the box. Irmen headed home the cross with just two seconds left to give Elmhurst the victory.
The Bluejays jumped on the scoreboard first as
Brittany Reinhart knocked home a corner kick from Stanczak in the 35th minute. Elmhurst's lead was short-lived as Carthage's Nicole Nitti scored just six minutes later off assists from Kelly Evancich and Jacey Kent.
Elmhurst improved to 9-4 on the season with the victory and evened its CCIW record at 3-3 with just two conference games remaining. Carthage slipped to 9-6 overall and 2-3 in league play.
Carthage outshot Elmhurst 14-6 in the contest but the Bluejays had an 8-2 edge in shots on goal.
Sophia Tuliglowski earned the win for the Bluejays in goal by stopping seven shots.
Elmhurst hosts Carroll University on Saturday, October 21.
