DECATUR, Ill. - The Elmhurst men's basketball team slipped to 5-9 on the season following a 66-41 loss at Millikin University. 

Millikin (3-11, 1-4 CCIW) scored the game's first 10 points and never looked back, leading from wire-to-wire. The Big Blue led 18-7 midway through the first half before using a 16-4 run to open up a 23-point lead with four minutes left. The Big Blue led 36-19 at the half. 

Elmhurst trimmed the deficit down to 14 points early in the second half, but the Big Blue responded with a 12-2 run over the next seven minutes to take a 24-point lead with eight minutes left before coasting to the 25-point win. 

Elmhurst (5-9, 1-4 CCIW) struggled with its shooting, hitting just 31.8 percent (14-of-44) of its shots, including 23.1 percent (3-of-13) from beyond the arc. Ryan Patton and Michael Plunk led Elmhurst with seven points apiece in the loss. Plunk added a team-high nine rebounds. Chris Parrilli and Austin Brown scored six points apiece for the Bluejays. 

Millikin shot 46.0 percent (23-of-50) for the contest, including 37.5 percent (6-of-16) from downtown. Jordan Cunningham led the Big Blue with 13 points and eight rebounds while Zach Fisher added 12 points off the bench. Tyler Pygon and Jack Simpson scored nine points apiece. 

Elmhurst travels to North Park University on Saturday, January 14.
