LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's tennis team upped its record to 3-4 overall following a 5-4 win over Lake Forest College.
Elmhurst won two of the three doubles matches and split the six singles contests en route to the victory.
In doubles play,
Hannah Vaselaney and
Kathryn Wheeler gave Elmhurst a 1-0 lead after scoring an 8-3 victory over Sara Grosse and Samantha Russell at No. 3 doubles. Lake Forest evened the score after Allison Watts and Silvia Kulbokas defeated
Chiara Gaudio and
Dacey Maglaque 8-5 at No. 2 doubles. Elmhurst's duo of
Ava Kolman and
Rachel Rettger scored an 8-6 win over Leeza Bodnar and Lucia Stumbras at No. 1 doubles.
In singles play, Kolman earned a win over Bodnar at No. 1 singles by injury default. Watts toppled Gaudio 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and Strumbas toppled Rettger 6-0. 7-5 at No. 3 singles to even the meet at 3-3.
Hannah Vaselaney downed Grosse 7-5, 6-2 at No. 5 singles to give Elmhurst a 4-3 lead, but Kulbokas defeated Elmhurst's
Tori Liewergen 6-4, 7-5 at No. 4 singles to even the score at 4-4.
Kathryn Wheeler sealed the win for Elmhurst with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Russell at No. 6 singles.Â
