ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's tennis team collected its first victory of the season with a 7-2 win over North Park University
Elmhurst (1-3, 1-2 CCIW) opened doubles play with a pair of wins before winning five of the six singles contests.
Ava Kolman and
Rachel Rettger opened doubles play with an 8-6 win over Jasmine Madrid and Juviel Vinlun at No. 1 doubles. At No. 2 doubles, North Park's Vilde Olvin and Justine DeBosscher downed Chiara Guido and
Dacey Maglaque 8-3, but the Bluejays' duo of
Hannah Vaselaney and
Kathryn Wheeler downed North Park's Malree McCabe and Katie Chelboun 8-2 at No 3. doubles.
In singles play, Kolman rallied from a set down to defeat Madrid 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1. Olvin gave the Vikings their only point in singles play with a 6-0, 6-4 win over Gaudio at No. 2 singles. Rettger dispatched DeBosscher 6-2, 4-6, 6-0 at No. 3 singles while Tori Liwergen toppled Vinlun 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4. Vaselaney made short work of McCabe at No. 5 singles, winning 6-0, 6-1. Wheeler scored a 6-2, 6-3 win over Chelboun at No. 6.
Elmhurst hosts Illinois Wesleyan University on Sunday, September 18.Â
