ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's tennis team slipped to 0-3 on the season following a 9-0 loss to Carthage College.
Elmhurst (0-2 CCIW) dropped all three doubles matches to Carthage (2-0, 1-0 CCIW) before losing all six singles contests as well.Â
In doubles play, Carthage's Max Mella and Angelica Emmanouil downed Elmhurst's
Ava Kolman and
Rachel Rettger 8-4 at No. 1 doubles. Casey Frommer and Kristen Kalinka upended
Chiara Gaudio and
Dacey Maglaque 8-0 at No. 2 doubles. The Lady Reds completed the doubles sweep behind Eliza Barter and Natalie Favia defeating
Hannah Vaselaney and
Camille Knapik-Balch 8-2 at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Kolman dropped a hard-fought No. 1 singles contest to Frommer. Frommer downed Kolman 5-7, 6-2, 11-9. Mella downed Gaudio 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 singles while Emmanouil toppled Rettger 6-0, 6-4 at No. 3. Kalinka needed three sets to top Elmhurst's
Tori Liewergen 2-6, 6-4, 10-8 at No. 4 singles. Barter blanked
Skye Palumbo 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles while Favia defeated
Kathryn Wheeler 6-1, 6-4 at No. 6 singles.Â
