ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's soccer team remained perfect on the 2016 season, upping its record to 4-0 after scoring a 1-0 shutout win over Rhodes College.

The win marked the Bluejays' first victory in four meetings with Rhodes (1-2). It also marks the first time the Bluejays have started the season with four victories since the 2004 season
 

After a scoreless opening half, the Bluejays took advantage of a corner kick to score the game's only goal in the 71st minute. Kim Stanczak sent the corner kick towards the far post where Brittany Reinhart headed the ball on goal. Rhodes' Anna Maldonado made the save on Reinhart's header, but the rebound popped loose in front and Kennedy Irmen cleaned up the rebound with her first goal of the season.

Elmhurst outshot Rhodes 11-7 for the contest and held a 3-1 edge in corner kicks. 

Emily Gordon and Sophia Tuliglowski combined for the shutout in goal for Elmhurst. Gordon played the opening half and recorded one save while Tuliglowski earned the win in the second half and stopped both shots she faced. 

Maldonado stopped six shots while taking the loss for Rhodes.

Elmhurst looks for its fifth straight win on Wednesday, September 14, when the Bluejays travel to Aurora.
