CLERMONT, Fla. - The Elmhurst softball team moved to 5-5 at the NTC Spring Games by splitting a pair of contests. The Bluejays blanked UW-Stevens Point 9-0 before falling 6-2 to D'Youville College to close the day.
ELMHURST 9, UW-STEVENS POINT 0 - A six-run sixth inning and a complete game performance from 
Stefanie Sanidas led the Bluejays to a 9-0 win over UW-Stevens Point in six innings.
Elmhurst broke a scoreless tie with a run in the fourth. 
Bekah Ondracek doubled to lead off the inning and scored on Bri Gretzloff's RBI fielders choice. The Bluejays tacked on a pair of unearned runs in the fifth thanks to a pair of Pointers' errors. 
Elmhurst sent 10 batters to the plate in the sixth and scored six times. 
Brianna Thompson helped spark the inning with a bases-loaded two-run double. A sacrifice fly from 
Mikayla Melone and a run-scoring single from Ondracek capped the Bluejays' scoring in the inning.
Ondracek powered the Bluejays at the plate, finishing 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI. Thompson posted a pair of hits, scored two runs and also drove in two for the Bluejays.
Sanidas improved to 3-2 on the season while tossing a complete game shutout from the circle. She scattered seven hits and did not issue a walk in six innings of work. Sanidas struck out seven in the victory.
D'YOUVILLE 6, ELMHURST 2 - Elmhurst dug them selves an early six-run hole, allowing four unearned runs in a 6-2 loss to D'Youville. 
D'Youville scored a run in the second and then took advantage of an Elmhurst error to score three unearned runs in the fifth. D'Youville tacked on two additional runs to take a 6-0 lead into the bottom of the sixth.
Elmhurst scored its only runs of the game in the sixth inning on a two-run double from Melone. The Bluejays were limited to just three hits in the loss.
Stephanie Sturino took the loss for the Bluejays, allowing seven hits and six runs (just two earned) in six innings of work. She walked one and fanned one. 
Elmhurst closes out its Florida road trip tomorrow with games against Southern Maine and St. Catherine.
