ORLANDO, Fla. – The Elmhurst women's tennis team fell 9-0 to St. Catherine on Monday.

The Wildcats began strong with a doubles sweep. Jessica Duda and Leah Obert defeated Tori Liewergen and Camille Knapik-Balch 8-2 at No. 3. At the top two spots, St. Catherine registered 8-4 victories. Mikinzee Salo and Angie Lorenzen defeated Ava Kolman and Rachel Rettger at No. 1, and Alicia Knoll and Julia Sporer beat Elmhurst's Hannah Vaselaney and Chiara Gaudio at No. 2.

The Wildcats started singles play with wins at No. 4 (Duda over Vaselaney 6-2, 6-1) and No. 6 (Obert over Brittany Kuehn 6-1, 6-2). Salo defeated Kolman at No. 1 and Sporer took down Liewergen (No. 5) by the same 6-3, 6-2 score. Both Rettger and Gaudio pushed their opponents to 5-5 in the first set, but could not hold off their Wildcat opponents. Knoll won over Gaudio 7-5, 6-1, while Lorenzen completed the 9-0 sweep with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Rettger.

Elmhurst faces Union College Tuesday, March 22 at 7:00 p.m. Eastern time.
