JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The Elmhurst baseball team wrapped up its four-game road trip with a 9-5 loss to Loras, dropping the Bluejays' record to 5-2 on the season.
Loras (2-2) strung together all nine of its runs between the second and sixth inning, breaking the game-open with a four-run fifth inning. The Duhawks totaled 13 hits in the contest en route to the four-run victory.
The Bluejays trailed 9-1 entering the eighth inning, but scored three times in the eighth and had the tying run on deck in the ninth inning.
Greg Struck collected two hits and drove in three runs to lead the Bluejays at the plate.
Reagan McReynolds added two hits and scored a pair of runs while
Christian Ott finished with two hits and an RBI.
Ben Havel also drove in a run for the Bluejays.
Austin MacMillan took the loss for the Bluejays, working 4.1 innings and allowing seven hits and four earned runs. He walked two and fanned three.
The Bluejays struggled to hit Loras' Brad Schwind in the loss. Schwind worked seven innings and allowed just three hits and two walks while not allowing an earned run. He struck out 12 batters in the win.
Elmhurst kicks off a seven-game Florida road trip on March 20, by playing a doubleheader against the Rochester Institute of Technology.
