NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Elmhurst wrestling team moved to 4-2 in dual meet competition this season after posting a 1-2 record at the Gator Boots Duals. 

Elmhurst opened the day with a 32-15 win over Waynesburg University before falling 21-19 to the University of Mount Union and 23-13 to 23rd-ranked Ferrum College.

ELMHURST 35, WAYNESBURG 15 - Elmhurst opened the duals with a convincing 32-15 win over Waynesburg. Anthony Munoz opened with a 9-8 decision over Tristan Buxton at 125 pounds. A forfeit at 133 pounds gave Elmhurst a quick 9-0 cushion. Ronnie Houser made it 12-0 in favor of the Bluejays with a 14-8 victory over Fillippo Crivelli at 141 pounds. A forfeit at 149 pounds and Gunner Hjorth pinning Matthew Claxton in 1:53 at 157 pounds, bumped the Bluejays' dual lead to 24-0. 

Tim Noverini added to the cushion with a 16-1 technical fall in the second period over Dan Verhovsek at 165 pounds. Waynesburg got on the scoreboard with wins at 174 and 184 pounds. Derek Hull pinned Shawn Swiderek in 3:39 at 174 pounds and Ryan Shank toppled Elmhurst's Leo Ortiz 5-0 at 184 pounds. The Bluejays' scored their final points of the dual at 197 pounds when Mark Miller downed Adam Rigney 7-1 at 197 pound. Waynesburg's Jake Evans ended the dual by pinning Scott Helton (5:28) at 285 pounds to make the final score 32-15 in favor of the Bluejays.

MOUNT UNION 21, ELMHURST 19 - Elmhurst suffered its first dual loss of the season after falling to Mount Union by two points. 

Munoz led off the action by scoring a 7-5 win with an overtime takedown to defeat 10th-ranked Nick Mancini at 125 pounds. Braun gave Elmhurst an 8-0 lead with a 17-0 technical fall over Aaron Kammeyer at 133 pounds. Mount Union scored three straight wins by one point to take a 9-8 lead in the dual meet. Seventh-ranked Alec Cotton edged Hauser 4-3 in overtime at 141 and Kyle Ferguson followed with a 3-2 win over Ramos at 149 pounds. Jesse Gross edged Elmhurst's Keone Derain 7-6 at 157 pounds to give Mount Union the one-point cushion.

Noverini put Elmhurst back in front with a 17-0 technical fall over Conner Homan at 165 pounds, giving the Bluejays a 13-9 lead. Nick Miller pulled Mount Union to within a point with a 13-6 win over Swiderek at 174 pounds. Isaiah Watson-Kirksey pinned Ortiz (2:48) at 184 pounds to put the Purple Raiders up 18-13, but Miller responded by pinning Mount Union's Grant Martin in six minutes at 197 pounds. Mike Sinclair edged Elmhurst's Joe Urso 5-3 at 285 pounds to give Mount Union the 21-19 victory. 

FERRUM 23, ELMHURST 13 - Elmhurst closed the single-day tournament with a 23-13 loss to #23 Ferrum. 

Ferrum's Bailey Cooper opened with a 4-0 win over Munoz at 125 pounds, but Braun quickly evened the dual score with a 7-4 victory over Bobby Ziehfreund at 133 pounds. Hauser followed with a 6-3 decision over Robert Cunningham at 141 pounds. Austin Smith's 10-3 win over Ramos at 149 pounds evened the dual at 6-6 after the first four matches. 

Logan Meister downed Hjorth 5-3 at 157 pounds to give Ferrum a three-point cushion, but the Bluejays took their first lead of the dual after Noverini scored a 19-7 major decision over Andrew Tolbert at 165 pounds. Blake Rosenbaum put Ferrum in front 12-10 after scoring a 6-2 win over Derain at 174 pounds. Adam Bresson followed with a 17-2 technical fall over Ortiz to give Ferrum a 17-10 lead. Miller scored the final points of the dual for Elmhurst at 197 pounds with an 8-3 win over Hunter Goulart. Ferrum's Tate Dulaney pinned Helton in 4:09 to make the final score 23-13. 

Elmhurst also wrestled a pair of "B" team duals, falling 44-6 to Ferrum and 23-12 to Olivet College. Tom Angsten and Grant Smiley both earned victories in the win over Olivet while Angsten and Urso scored wins over Ferum.
