ELMHURST, Ill. – North Central scored twice in the first 15 minutes and held on for a 2-0 victory over the Elmhurst women's soccer team.

The Bluejays (8-3-0, 1-2-0 CCIW) had a chance to take the lead early when

Kim Stanczak, but the North Central (3-5-2, 2-0-0 CCIW) defense swarmed back to stifle the opportunity.

The Cardinals scored two goals in a three-minute span to take an early 2-0 lead. In the 11th minute, Rachel Kolling hit the post with a shot and the rebound played to Juliana Salzano. Salzano's first attempt was blocked, but she was able to tuck her second chance around a pair of defenders and inside the right post. Less than three minutes later, Jessica DeJong fired a shot from 25 yards out that stayed just inside the far upper 90.

Despite a flurry of Elmhurst shots in the final 10 minutes of the contest, the Cardinals' defense stayed steady as they took the victory 2-0.

Elmhurst outshot North Central 17-15, although the Cardinals held a 4-2 advantage in shots on goal.
Emily Gordon made a pair of saves for Elmhurst in taking the loss, while Nicki Seiton posted a shutout with a pair of saves.

Elmhurst hosts Illinois Wesleyan as a part of a Homecoming tripleheader this Saturday, October 8 at 7:30 p.m. It will also be the Bluejays' senior day.
