WHEATON, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's soccer team slipped to 8-5 overall after suffering a 2-0 road loss at Wheaton College.
Elmhurst's offensive woes continued in the contest, as the Bluejays dropped their fourth straight CCIW match-up by shutout. The Bluejays slipped to 1-4 in the CCIW with the loss.
Wheaton (6-7, 3-1 CCIW) broke a scoreless tie in the 65th minute when Sarah Gencarella scored on a deflected pass from Autumn Rasmussen to give the Thunder a 1-0 lead.Â
Gencarella put the game away in the 84th minute by scoring her second goal of the game off a cross from Anna Saunders.
Wheaton outshot Elmhurst 12-6 in the contest and had a 5-0 edge in corner kicks.
Emily Gordon took the loss in goal for Elmhurst, allowing two goals while recording three saves. Kathryn McGregor earned the shutout for Wheaton by stopping three shots.Â
Elmhurst hosts Carthage College next Wednesday, October 19.Â
