NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's tennis team won its third consecutive contest by defeating North Central College 6-3.
Elmhurst upped its record to 6-5 overall and 4-4 in the CCIW with the win while North Central slipped to 4-5 and 1-5 in league play.
The Bluejays took two out of three doubles matches and won four of the six singles matches en route to the win.
In doubles play,
Ava Kolman and
Rachel Rettger combined for an 8-6 win over Kelsey Forkin and Clare O'Connor at No. 1. North Central's Katie Drone and Marisa Coladipietro downed
Chiara Gaudio and
Dacey Maglaque 8-6 at No. 2 doubles while Elmhurst's
Hannah Vaselaney and
Kathryn Wheeler defeated Isabelle Wostoupal and Lauren Dvorak 8-2 at No. 3 doubles.
In singles action, Kolman dispatched Drone 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. O'Connor scored the Cardinals a point at No. 2 singles with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Gaudio at No. 2 singles. Forkin followed with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Rettger at No. 3 singles but Elmhurst won the final three singles contests.
Tori Liewergen downed Coladipietro 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4 while Vaselaney scored a 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 win over Wostoupal at No. 5 singles. Wheeler breezed past Dvorak 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.
The Bluejays host the University of Minnesota Duluth and Chicago State University on Saturday, October 15.
