ELMHURST, Ill. – The Elmhurst women's tennis team upped its record to 5-5 overall and 3-4 in the CCIW following a 6-3 win over Millikin University.

Millikin (6-3, 2-3 CCIW) opened play by taking two out of the three doubles matches, but Elmhurst won five of the six singles contests earn the victory.

All three doubles matches went to a tiebreaker. Elmhurst's duo of
Ava Kolman and
Rachel Rettger edged Molly Angell and Melissa Donovan 9-8 at No. 1 doubles. Millikin's Morgan Bettner and Kelly Ruane tipped
Chiara Gaudio and
Dacey Maglaque 9-8 at No. 2 doubles. The Big Blue's tandem of Paige Bequette and Madeline Delano clipped
Hannah Vaselaney and
Kathryn Wheeler 9-8 at No. 3 doubles.

In singles play, Kolman dispatched Bettner 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles while Gaudio toppled Bequette 6-2, 7-5 at No. 2. Rettger outlasted Kelly Ruane at No. 3 singles 3-6, 6-3, 6-0.
Tori Liewergen edged Angel in three sets at No. 4singles 7-6, 3-6, 6-3. Millikin's only singles victory came at No. 5 when Melissa Donovan downed Vaselaney 6-4, 6-4. Wheeler finished singles play with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Delano at No. 6 singles.
