ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's tennis team upped its record to 6-1 on the season after shutting out the Milwaukee School of Engineering 9-0 at the Brune Tennis Courts.
The Bluejays recorded the clean sweep by winning all three doubles contests and all six singles matches.
Elmhurst's duo of
Chiara Gaudio and
Hannah Vaselaney downed Carly Grant and Michelle Roubik 8-2 at No. 2 doubles to score the Bluejays' first-point. The No. 1 doubles team of
Ava Kolman and
Rachel Rettger finished just after, toppling Monika Gurdak and Cali Bonie 8-1 at No. 1 doubles.
Lauren Kuehn and
Brittany Kuehn dispatched Brittany Kelly and Melanie Avery 8-4 at No. 3 doubles to give the Bluejays a quick 3-0 lead.
In singles action, Kolman opened by making short work of Grant at No. 1 singles with a 6-0, 6-1 victory. Moments later, Vaselaney clinched the team victory at No. 3 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Bonie. Gaudio downed Gurdak 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles to give Elmhurst a 6-0 lead.
Tori Liewergen defeated Kelly 6-3, 6-0 at No. 4 singles and
Allie Moran followed with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Phoebe Skowronski at No. 6 singles. Camile Knapik-Balch wrapped up singles play with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Avery at No. 5 singles.
Elmhurst resumes CCIW play on Tuesday (September 29), by hosting Wheaton College at 3:30 p.m.
