For the fourth time this season, Elmhurst (5-0, 3-0 CCIW) swept doubles to take a 3-0 lead.
Ava Kolman and
Rachel Rettger tallied the first point for Elmhurst with an 8-3 victory over Dana Dray and Randi Wilson at No. 1 doubles. At No. 3,
Katelyn LoRusso and Camile Knapik-Balch defeated Kayleigh Ruffolo and Sam Robinson 8-6.
Chiara Gaudio and
Hannah Vaselaney completed the sweep with an 8-5 victory over Brianna Dao and Allie Spontak at No. 2.
Kolman and Knapik-Balch both scored victories in singles to clinch the match for Elmhurst. Kolman took out Dray 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 and Knapik-Balch defeated Robinson 6-0, 6-2 at No. 6. Rettger added a Bluejay win 6-0, 6-4 over Wilson at No. 3. Liewergen (6-1, 6-1 over Ruffulo at No. 5) and Vaselaney (6-2, 6-4 over Spontak at No. 4) extended the Bluejay lead to 8-0 before Dao added the Titans' lone point, coming out victorious 6-4, 7-5 over Gaudio at No. 2.
Elmhurst hosts North Central in a key CCIW contest this Wednesday, September 23 at 3:30 p.m.
