RIVER FOREST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College women's soccer team opened the 2015 season with a 1-0 road victory over Dominican University.
The two teams combined for over 70 minutes of scoreless action until a pair of Elmhurst freshman combined for the lone goal of the game. In the 74th minute,
Brittany Reinhart found the back of the net off an assist from
Sidney O'Keeffe.
Melinda Vickers made two saves in recording the shutout.
Alyssa Angelo and
Allie Kightly anchored the strong backline as the only Elmhurst players besides Vickers to play all 90 minutes.
The Bluejays outshot the Stars 18-9 and put nine shots on frame to Dominican's two.
Courtney O'Keeffe led Elmhurst with a game-high four shots, while
Megan Hart added two more. Reinhart scored on her only shot of the game.
Elmhurst will look for its second win of the season at Bethel University (Minn.) Friday, September 5.
