ELMHURST, Ill. - Phoebe LeRoy and
Nikki Togami combined to score 11 goals while leading the Elmhurst men's lacrosse team to a 16-5 victory over the Illinois Institute of Technology.
Elmhurst (6-5) ripped off the first four goals of the game before IIT (2-8) cracked the scoreboard. LeRoy fired home her 19th goal of the season from free position just 52 seconds into the contest to put Elmhurst in front 1-0. Togami scored seven minutes later from free position to stake the Bluejays to a two-goal cushion.Â

Phoebe LeRoyMeghan Keyes and LeRoy scored goals just 30 seconds apart to put the Bluejays up by four. Isabel Meyers netted a goal with 11:29 left in the first to put IIT on the scoreboard. LeRoy added back-to-back goals just 16 seconds apart to take a 6-1 lead before the Scarlet Hawks scored consecutive goals to cut Elmhurst's lead down to three. Togami netted her second goal of the contest with 2:41 left to give the Bluejays a 7-3 lead at the half.Â
Elmhurst scored the first four goals of the second half to extend its lead to eight. After an IIT goal, the Bluejays scored five consecutive tallies to blow the game open at take a 16-4 lead before cruising to the 11-goal lead.
Elmhurst outshot IIT 34-13 in the contest and dominated on draw controls, winning 18 to IIT's five.Â
LeRoy powered the Bluejays' offense with eight points, finishing with seven goals and an assist. She also won three draw controls for the Bluejays. Togami added six points for Elmhurst, scoring four goals and tallying two assists to go with a team-leading eight draw controls. Keyes added two goals and an assist while
Aja Brown also scored twice.
Natalie Tylka also registered a goal for the Bluejays.
Grace Knoebel earned the win in goal for Elmhurst, recording four saves in the victory.Â
Five different players tallied goals for IIT in the loss. Cassandra Reineke tallied two points with a goal and an assist. Briana Villagrana took the loss in net, recording nine saves while surrendering 16 goals.Â
Elmhurst travels to Dubuque next Wednesday, April 15.Â
