ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Elmhurst women's lacrosse team's inaugural season came to a close in a 19-2 loss in the CCIW Tournament to top-seeded Augustana College.
Augustana (17-1) scored the game's first eight goals and never looked back, outshoting Elmhurst 37-6 in the contest, including a 21-5 edge in the first half.

The Vikings got on the scoreboard on a Hillary Kargl goal just over three minutes into the contest. The Vikings tacked on seven goals over the next 10 minutes to extended their lead to 8-0.

Phoebe LeRoy ended Augustana's scoring run, by firing home a goal from free position with 12:45 left in the half. Augustana  scored the next five goals to open up a 13-1 lead before Elmhurst's
Aja Brown scored with less than a minute left in the half to make the score 13-2 at the break.

Augustana outshot Elmhurst 16-1 in the second half while outscoring the Bluejays 6-0 to come away with the 19-2 victory.

LeRoy and Brown accounted for Elmhurst's only goals in the contest.
Jamie Lawinger totaled four ground balls and caused three turnovers.
Grace Knoebel took the loss in goal, recording eight saves and two ground balls in the contest.
Kargl paced Augustana in the win with eight points on four goals and four assists. Anne Hopkins added six points on four goals and two assists while Emily Pavlik tallied two goals. Emily Handrahan chipped in with five points on a goal and four assists.

Elmhurst finished their debut season with an impressive 9-9 overall record while qualifying for the CCIW Tournament in their first season.
