ELMHURST, Ill. – The Elmhurst women's lacrosse team closed out its final home game of the season with an impressive 12-1 win over Wartburg College at Langhorst Field.

Elmhurst upped its record to 9-7 on the season with the victory while Wartburg slipped to 4-11 overall.

Elmhurst wasted little time getting on the scoreboard as
Phoebe LeRoy fired home her 40th goal of the season just 59 seconds into the contest.
Megan Lees scored just 1:20 later off a
Nikki Togami assist to stake Elmhurst to a two-goal cushion. LeRoy struck for her second goal of the game with 23:19 left in the half to put the Bluejays up by three.

Wartburg got on the scoreboard with 18:57 left in the half on Ashley Lahti's goal, but the Bluejays ripped off three straight goals to close the half with LeRoy,
Aja Brown and
Meghan Keyes all tallying goals for Elmhurst. The Bluejays led 6-1 at the half.

Elmhurst scored five times in the first 8:30 of the second half to open up a 10-goal advantage and start the running clock. Â Togami (twice), LeRoy, Brown and
Natalie Tylka all tallied goals in the five-goal span. Togami recorded her second goal of the contest with 14 minutes left for the Bluejays' final tally.

Elmhurst outshot Wartburg 31-11 in the contest and enjoyed a 19-15 edge in ground balls. Elmhurst converted 11-of-14 clears while Wartburg converted just 8-of-22 clears.

LeRoy led Elmhurst in the win with five goals and four draw controls. Togami finished with four points on two goals and two assists while Brown tallied two goals for the Bluejays. Lees added two points on a goal and an assist while Keyes and Tylka finished with a goal apiece.
Grace Knoebel earned the win in goal, improving to 9-7 on the year by recording six saves and two ground balls.

Ashley Lahti tallied Wartburg's only point of the game in the loss. Karolina Paulsen took the loss in net for the Knights, allowing 12 goals while recording 11 saves.

Elmhurst closes out the regular season by playing at Carthage College, tomorrow (April 25) at 1:00 p.m.Â
