ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst men's lacrosse team recorded its second consecutive victory by upending Southwestern University 9-3 at Langhorst Field.
Elmhurst (4-5 overall) raced out to a 7-0 lead at halftime and
Nick Bonastia held Southwestern off the scoreboard for over 53 minutes to help the Bluejays pick up the victory.

Elmhurst continued to pull away in the second half as Jacob Cambron, Klenck,
Jackson Mandli and Dailey all found the back of the net for the Bluejays.Â
Klenck scored his third goal of the contest early in the third quarter and Cambron tallied his second goal of the game early in the fourth to give Elmhurst a 9-0 lead.
Southwestern (4-8) scored the game's final three tallies to make the final score 9-3 in favor of the Bluejays.
Elmhurst outshot Southwestern 29-27 and enjoyed a 25-22 edge in ground balls. Elmhurst also took advantage of Southwestern penalties, scoring three times on extra-man advantages. The Bluejays were also dominant on faceoffs, winning 9-of-14.Â
Klenck and Westhaver paced Elmhurst's offense by finishing with four points apiece. Klenck totaled three goals and an assist while Westhaver finished with a team-leading four assists. Dailey totaled three points on two goals and an assist while Cambron tallied a pair of goals for the Bluejays.
Brandon Bethran won 9-of-13 faceoffs and totaled five ground balls.
Mal Euson and
Dan Curley finished with four ground balls each in the victory.
Bonastia picked up the win for the Bluejays in net, finishing with 12 saves while allowing just three goals.
Matthew Montagne, Connor Koper and Everett Barger all tallied a goal for Southwestern. Charlie Fisher took the loss for the Pirates, allowing nine goals while recording 10 saves in goal.
Elmhurst faces Mount St. Joseph on Wednesday, April 1.Â
