NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Elmhurst wrestling team slid to 4-6 in dual meet competition after dropping a 33-9 CCIW dual meet at North Central College.

North Central won seven of the 10 contests en route to the 24-point victory. Blake Santi, Mitch Morris and Colton Kelly scored the three victories for the Bluejays.

North Central's Brandon Malone opened the dual with a 5-1 victory over Anthony Munoz at 125 pounds. The Cardinals took a 9-0 lead after Casey McWhirter pinned Carter Beebe early in the third round (5:19) of the 133-pound match. Layten Binion scored a 16-6 major decision over the Bluejays' Matt Quigley to give North Central a 13-0 cushion after three matches.

Elmhurst got on the scoreboard at 149 pounds when Santi edged Nathan Segal 2-1 in the closest match of the dual. North Central won the next two matches at 157 pounds and 165 pounds. Blake Olson pinned Elmhurst's Nick DiNardo in 2:31 at 157 pounds and Eric Kirkman scored a 15-0 technical fall over Sergio Lopez at 165 pounds. 

Mitch Morris scored an Elmhurst victory at 174 pounds by edging Matt Marcotte 6-4. North Central's Javier Ishola-Marquez toppled Bobby Schillinger 13-6 at 184 pounds to give the Cardinals a 27-6 lead and seal the dual meet victory in the process. Kelly scored the final Elmhurst win at 197 pounds by upending Filiberto Diaz-Duran 10-6. North Central's Dylan Mahler closed the dual with a late third-round pin (6:47) of Zack Urbanski at 285 pounds.

Elmhurst hosts the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championships on Thursday, February 19.
