ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's basketball team suffered its second straight loss, falling to No. 20 UW-Whitewater 81-65.

After UW-Whitewater took a 4-2 lead, Elmhurst ripped off nine straight points behind four different scorers, including four points by
Erika Johnson. The Bluejays kept the lead until late when the Warhawks ripped off the final seven points of the quarter to take a 23-19 lead.Â

Hannah Lipman layup pulled Elmhurst within three as the half expired.Â

Claire MonroeThe teams played a defensive battle early in the second half, as the teams combined for just one basket, a UW-Whitewater layup, in the half's first three-and-a-half minutes. Jones,
Claire Monroe, and Lipman combined for seven straight points on four possessions to give Elmhurst its first lead since the first quarter. UW-Whitewater jumped back on top with nine of the next 11 points and finished the quarter with a 58-51 lead.Â
The Warhawks limited Elmhurst to just three points in the first 5-plus minutes, jumping out to a 21-point lead with 4:37 left in the game, and cruising to a 16-point victory.Â
Monroe (12) and Lipman (11) joined Jones in double-figures. Eppard and Lipman both grabbed seven rebounds. Elmhurst shot 46-percent from the field, but lost the rebound (37-30) and turnover (20-13) battles in the loss.Â
Andrea Olsen (21 points) and Andrea Meinart (15) both shot 7-of-11 and led the way for the Warhawks. Abbie Reaves also chipped in with 13 points.Â
Elmhurst hosts Loras College this Saturday, December 5 at 2:00 p.m. It is also the Bluejays annual Teddy Bear Toss.
