ELMHURST, Ill. – The Elmhurst women's soccer team out shot IIT 38-4, but played the Scarlet Hawks to a scoreless draw.
In the first half, Elmhurst out shot IIT 17-2, but could not find the net. In the 21st minute,
Anna Garritano hit a free kick that curled toward goal, but was punched away by IIT goalkeeper Roxanne Myers. In the 37th minute,
Marri Gragnani found some open space 15 yards out, but fired her shot wide.
In the 67th minute, it looked like
Brittany Reinhart's 20-yard shot was going to be the difference, but Myers made a diving save to keep the game scoreless.
In overtime, Elmhurst had four chances, but still could not find the net.
Both
Melinda Vickers and Myers received a shutout, stopping two and nine shots respectively.
Elmhurst travels to Augustana this Saturday, October 10 for a 1:00 p.m. start.
